What is a sticky session?

A sticky session keeps you on the same exit IP from a rotating pool for a set time, so a multi-step flow looks like one visitor.

Sticky session explained

A rotating pool hands out a new IP per request, which breaks anything stateful. The site sets a cookie for one address, sees it come back from another, and logs you out or asks for a CAPTCHA.

A sticky session pins you to one IP until its timer runs out. On residential, that IP is someone's home connection, so it can drop before the timer does. Write your code to expect that and start a new session when it happens.

Keep one cookie jar per sticky session. The same cookie turning up from several IPs in a minute looks worse than sending no cookie at all.

For example

Your bot adds a pair of trainers to a cart and moves to checkout. With per-request rotation, checkout arrives from a new IP and the cart is empty. With a sticky session, both steps leave from one address.
