What is a rotating proxy?

A rotating proxy gives you a different exit IP address from a pool on each request or connection, without you changing any settings.

Rotating proxy explained

You point your client at one address and the provider swaps the IP behind it. To the target, a thousand requests look like they came from many different visitors, so per-IP limits bite later and one blocked address costs you one request.

Rotation usually happens per connection. If your HTTP client keeps a connection open and reuses it, several requests can leave from the same IP even through a rotating gateway. A requests.Session in Python does exactly that.

Rotation works against you when the site expects continuity. A login, a cart or a paginated search can break when the IP changes between steps, which is what sticky sessions are for.

Run the two commands below. Two different addresses come back, because each curl run opens a new connection through the gateway.
