What is proxy geo-targeting?

Geo-targeting means choosing the country, region or city of your proxy's exit IP, so a site serves you its local version.

Geo-targeting explained

Also called country targeting.

Sites change prices, currency, search results and stock depending on where the visitor seems to be, and some refuse to load at all from the wrong country. That guess comes from the IP, so to see the German page you need a German exit.

An IP's location comes from geolocation databases, and they disagree now and then. If a site shows the wrong country, check the exit IP against two lookup services before blaming the proxy.

Match the rest of the request to the location. An Accept-Language: en-US header on a Japanese IP is a small but real tell.

For example

You track what a game costs in four regional stores. Each check needs an exit in that store's country, or every store quotes you the price for where you live.
